Rajasthan is an exotic state lying on the western parts of India. It is known around the world for its exotic tourist spots and the stunningly beautiful stretch of desert, the magnificent forts and also the wonderful landscapes and the breathtaking palaces. If you want to get a virtual tour of the princely state of Rajasthan, here are some Hollywood and Bollywood movies that you must watch.
Mughal-e-azam at Jaipur
The classic movie of Mughal-e-azam was shot in Jaipur, the pink city of Rajasthan. Jaipur is also the capital city of Rajasthan and the movie was shot within the Jaipur royal family residence. There was a war scene in the movie that too was shot in Jaipur with the help of Indian army. The cavalry, soldiers and the horses used in the war scene was in reality from the Indian army. This was mainly done to give the movie a real war feel and effect. The Jaipur regiment from the Indian army was a part of the movie too. It is also to be noted that the most popular song of the movie, “pyar kiya to darna kya” was shot inside the Sheesh Mahal in Rajasthan.
The Fall (2006) at Jaipur and Jodhpur
The adventure fantasy movie, The Fall which released in 2006 was also shot in Jodhpur and Jaipur. The story of The Fall had a character of an Indian Warrior which was played by Jeetu Verma and it is this part of the shooting that was done at the exotic cities of Jaipur and Jodhpur.
Bond Movie Octopussy at Udaipur
The Bond Movie, Octopussy was the thirteenth movie for the entire series of James Bond Movies and it was partly shot in Udaipur. In the story Bond follows a bidder Kamal Khan back to India in his palace at Rajasthan. Kamal Khan is the exiled Afghan prince and he bids for the fake Faberge egg that he believes to be real. The story goes forward with James Bond trying to defeat Khan who is the villain of the movie.
The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel at Jaipur
This movie is a comedy drama film that released in 2011. It was shot at Jaipur. The movie features an ensemble cast and starts when a group of British Pensioners move into a hotel in Udaipur, India on a retirement trip. Most of the movie was shot in Jaipur and Udaipur and the hotel that transformed into Marigold Hotel is in reality the Ravla Khempur Hotel located in the village of Khempur.
Rang De Basanti at Nahargarh Fort, Jaipur
The Nahargarh Fort is located on the Aravalli Hills which is overlooking the capital city of Jaipur in Rajasthan. The song, “Masti ki pathshala” from the famed movie of Rang De Basanti was shot in the Nahargarh Fort in Jaipur. The Fort was built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II in 1734 and focused on the retreat and recreation of the royal family.
Bajirao Mastani at Jaipur
Well this one is the latest and as most of us have right now seen the movie the let me suggest you a scene where Bajirao and Mastani marched together to save Mastani father, that was the amber fort and even the dance of Mastani at here father court where Bajirao was sitting to took place at Amber fort lake garden.
The Dark Knight Rises
Yes Batman also came to Rajasthan. In the movie when Bruce was taken away by Bane and thrown in a prison where every one is allowed to try to climb out that place is Mehrangarh Fort of Jodhpur. Lots of media attention came to Jodhpur thats to this awesome Batman movie which choose Rajasthan for their movie scene.
The Darjeeling Limited
Anther movie which have scene from Jodhpur is The Darjeeling Limited. Though the name itself hints that the movie will have some scene from Darjeeling but some great scenes were taken from the heritage city of Jodhpur.

Its a nice thriller movies and the main here is Abhay Doel. The movies was filmed in Jhunjhunu district.

Its a multi-starer Hindi film and actors like Saf Ali Khan and Big B Amitabh Bachan came to Devigarh and Udaipur for this movie shooting.
- Gulaal
Well how did I miss this as the whole movies was on Rajputana and student politics of Rajsthan. 100% of this film was filmed on the state.
And to wind this post movies like Paheli, Rudaali, Jodhaa Akbar, Dor, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, Nayak, Soldier, Border, Karan Arjun, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Kaalo, Bol Bachchan, PK,, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Veer were filmed and I have seen them so I am mentioning it… I just figured it our that I have seen quite some Bollywood movies.
